Is that an adorable Quoll posing for our monitoring camera? We believe it is! This Tiger Quoll (Dasyurus maculatus) was spotted by a sensor camera at our Oura Oura Reserve in Tasmania's Liffey Valley on the lands of the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community. The Spotted-tail Quoll is the largest Quoll variety and despite ever-increasing threats, still exists on the mainland as well as Tasmania 😍 This amazing footage was provided by our Tasmanian reserve manager Mike Bretz, who reported that both Quoll

📸 Our motion-activated cameras recently captured a Tiger Quoll, also known as the Spotted-tail Quoll, in the Forster area! 🌿 This endangered meat-eating marsupial is native to the East Coast. To record a Quoll in the Forster surrounds is a good indicator of local ecosystem health with quality habitat, low predator numbers, and a healthy natural food chain for the Quoll to sustain itself. Mother quolls can pouch up to six young, which she carries until they grow too large. At that point, she le

My favourite species. The tiger quoll, also known as the spot-tailed quoll or native cat. Although not a cat at all, these feisty ‘Ferraris’ of the marsupial world are fearsome pouched carnivores and are close cousins to the extinct (thought to be…I still believe) Tasmanian tiger. Endangered on mainland Australia, due to loss of habitat, disease, 1080 poisoning, climate change and competition and predation from foxes and cats. We hope to breed these precious beasties in 2025. Fingers crossed! ❤️#

The tiger quoll may look like a friendly cartoon character but he’s a baby-faced assassin, prowling the jungle for prey. But once they've made a kill, they have to be careful: Tasmanian devils have been known to step in and scare them away from their kill. 🐯 Meet the Tiger Quoll — Australia’s secret spotted predator. With its sharp claws, powerful jaws, and stealthy moves, this marsupial hunts everything from insects to birds. Despite its fierce skills, it’s sadly endangered due to habitat loss. Would you have guessed this cutie is actually a top carnivore? 👀 #TigerQuoll #QuollLove #AustralianWildlife #MarsupialMonday #WildlifeConservation #NativeAustralianAnimals | Discvr Blog

Endangered in Victoria. Tiger quolls are one of my favourite native animals. These beautiful animals are the second largest extant carnivorous marsupial (second to the Tasmanian devil). Excitingly, it’s the start of quoll breeding season, we usually have breeding behaviour when there is a full moon. Our girls are getting cranky, and starting to show ‘denning’ behaviour. Female quolls raise their young by themselves, with no interaction from the male. Fingers crossed 🤞 #quolls #tigercat #endange

Here at Halls Gap Zoo, we're committed to protecting and preserving these incredible animals. Over the past three breeding seasons, we've successfully bred 19 healthy quoll joeys, contributing to the survival of this amazing species.
