Why do I sketch before I paint? Before I paint, I create a detailed sketch of my composition using alcohol markers. I tend to spend more time on this step than most artists. For me, a sketch is like a rehearsal. It helps me understand the painting at a deeper level and it’ll guide me later as I paint. I’m using Sketch markers from Copic.
