This is a square lashing. It can be done in different ways, but this method works best for us. For play structures that are meant to last several years in Norway’s damp climate, we have to use synthetic rope. We use 6 mm Danline for square lashings. This rope is highly resistant to sunlight and has a breaking strength of 600 kg. When making a square lashing with synthetic rope, it’s important to secure the ends. On carousels, we tape the end of the rope to one of the other ropes and then melt it
