Here's how it goes: I start by drawing a chart, then knit a swatch to see if it looks right and to spot any weird shapes where the repeats join. 🤓 . If needed, I tweak the chart and might have to do a new swatch to check the changes. 🤭 . Once I'm happy with the chart, I swatch again using the yarn meant for the final piece. Basically, there's a whole lot of swatching before anything else. For some designs, I'd say swatching takes up about 25% of the knitting. 🫣 But I'm loving every bit of it.
