I spent the day inside the largest homeless encampment in Washington State—right here in Olympia, the city with the highest per-capita homelessness rate in the entire state. This is the homeless camp at I5 and Northgate as it looked a few days ago. The number of tents has probably risen since then. Many of the folks who are here now have likely relocated from other camps that were "swept" by the Navigation Team. Considering that the City of Seattle spends upwards of $80 milllion a year for homeless services, we should be keeping records of every street dweller or tent camper who has been contacted by the City.
