Asian shares are mixed after Wall Street closed lower following the Federal Reserve’s interest rate hike decision for the first time in three years.

Stock markets mostly fell and oil prices climbed on Thursday as inflation fears, driven by a lack of progress in ending the Middle East war, drove a further sell-off in global bonds. A rebound in oil prices also added to inflation fears.

U.S. futures were higher, after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told reporters following talks Sunday with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in New York ahead of the two leaders’ meeting that the U.S. had “a very successful engagement” with the Chinese side.
