Tropical Storm Fernand strengthened Sunday over the open Atlantic Ocean well east of Bermuda.

Tropical Storms Juliette and Fernand are churning over open waters, one in the Pacific and one in the Atlantic, the Miami-based U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

At least two people died after they had been swimming in the heavy current, and a search continued Monday for a man who was missing after his boat capsized.
