There was some much overdue optimism on the first day of the Creative Investors’ Conference, co-organized by CAA Media Finance, in San Sebastian on Tuesday, as execs from an established U.S indie distributor and new market entrant both celebrated the record breaking figures from the summer box office.

Broadway enjoyed a crisp upturn last week as autumn peeked around the corner, with a few shows benefiting from popular new cast members and one production seeing a final-week boost from last-chancers.

The show, which loosely follows the plot of the movie, Titanic, set to the songs of Celine Dion, played to close to 99 percent capacity and saw its average ticket price jump up to $127, the highest of its run. The musical, which opened April 12, received four Tony nominations and ended its limited run Sept. 20.

The domestic box office posted a record-breaking summer movie season, which was bolstered by an extra week of ticket sales and higher-priced premium screenings.

John Wilson's The History Of Concrete had a record-breaking IFC Center debut, grossing $90k in three days for the top doc opening and the second-highest weekend gross in the NYC theater’s 21-year history after only Parasite ($119k in 2019).

Hanuman Ansh continues its impressive box-office run on Day 47. The devotional drama has now crossed the Rs 280 crore mark in India net collections, while its worldwide total moves further ahead.

Backrooms is not lost in the theaters and has quietly achieved a major milestone at the box office worldwide. After achieving many firsts for the A24 studio, it has scored yet another solid feat. The low-budget horror movie is fittingly the second-highest-grossing horror movie of the year.
