A female rhino who was a favorite among visitors at Potter Park Zoo in Lansing has died, the zoo officials reported.

Droppsee, a female rhino, gave birth in 2017 in the Potter Park Zoo. She was euthanized after an illness, zoo officials said.

Medical staff had been working around the clock to get Doppsee well after her health suddenly declined a month ago.

Doppsee provided the state with Christmas magic when she gave birth at Potter Park Zoo in Lansing on Christmas Eve 2019.

The announcement follows weeks of health complications in which the zoo says Doppsee’s health continued to change.
