The Buchanans, who ran a sprawling farm and store about 40 miles outside Raleigh, died on Monday. Four members of a family who ran a large farm in North Carolina that supplied markets and hosted local vendor festivals were killed on Monday afternoon when the small plane they were in crashed, officials said.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating.
