A Los Angeles judge will hear arguments on whether to grant restraining orders against ICE over alleged constitutional violations during immigration arrests in California.

The city of Los Angeles and other Southern California municipalities are joining a lawsuit against President Donald Trump's administration aimed at halting immigration raids that have spread panic among immigrant communities and sparked widespread protests.

Thirty-four cities and counties, including Chicago and Los Angeles, have asked to join a California lawsuit seeking to stop the Trump administration from cutting federal funding based on sanctuary policies that limit cooperation with the administration’s mass deportation agenda.

The law, enacted this year, made it a crime for unauthorized migrants to enter the state. Challengers say immigration is a federal matter.
