Harvard University said it would turn over employment forms for thousands of staff to comply with demands from the Department of Homeland Security. The federal inquiry applies to all current employees and any individual who worked for the university in the past year,

The government can request the employment eligibility verification forms related to citizenship and immigration status as a matter of course, but Harvard was surprised to receive such a voluminous demand.

Harvard University said on Tuesday it will comply with the demands of President Donald Trump's administration to turn over employment forms for thousands of university staff, but for the time being was not sharing records for those employed in roles only available to students.
