Indianapolis police are investigating a deadly shooting involving a child on Ralston Avenue on the city's north side.

An 18-year-old was arrested by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department after allegedly carjacking a motorist in the near-east side of the city and fleeing with the stolen car. It was later found and the suspect was apprehended.

While summer usually warrants the highest number of shootings and homicides in the city, leading up to June 2025, killings are down from last year.

Officers arrived at the scene and found an adult woman with injuries consistent with trauma wounds to her body. EMS pronounced her deceased at the scene.
