Children in UB's Early Childhood Research Center are learning American Sign Language to see if it can be used as a common medium for communication among multilingual preschoolers.

Blinn College offers courses in American Sign Language at both the Bryan and Brenham campuses.

The gestures may be the remnants of a basic sign language used by our last common ancestors with apes, says Kirsty Graham, who did the work while at the University of St Andrews in Scotland.
