Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) owns property on the Guadalupe River in Texas that was affected by the deadly July 4 floods. His family members are safe.

HAMPTON ROADS — On July 4, a flash flood along the Guadalupe River overwhelmed the Texas hill country region of Kerr County. The river surged to almost 30 feet in under an hour, leading to a major rush of water. At the heart of the storm was Camp Mystic, a summer camp for girls.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin says his family members are safe after getting stranded by the catastrophic flooding last week in Texas that killed more than 100 people. Youngkin said he had family and friends in central Texas when the flooding hit in the early morning of July 4.
