Retired New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning says he is backing out of his bid to purchase a stake in his former team.

He may have a famous name, a built-in fan base and a Hall of Fame career, but Eli Manning says an ownership stake in his former team, the New York Giants, is “too expensive for me.”

Rooney began his career working for his famous uncle in Pittsburgh in the 1970s and was an integral part of building one of the NFL's greatest dynasties. He joined the Giants in 1985 and worked in personnel until his retirement in 1999.
