Actor Julian McMahon, best known for his roles in "Nip/Tuck" and "Fantastic Four," has died at age 56 after a "valiant" battle with cancer.

Julian McMahon’s cause of death has been ruled as natural and that he “died from lung metastatis as a result of head and neck metastatic cancer.” This means that the cancer first formed in the head and neck and then spread to the lung.

McMahon was known for portraying villain Doctor Doom in 2005’s Fantastic Four and 2007’s sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. He also played Christian Troy in Ryan Murphy’s Nip/Tuck and Cole Turner in Charmed. His more recent credits were in The Residence and The Surfer.
