Star Wars creator George Lucas rang in the opening of his new Los Angeles-based museum with the help of Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford.

The last film Lucas helmed was 2005's 'Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.' George Lucas, the mind behind the legendary Star Wars franchise, revealed that he intended to helm three more movies, but decided to retire from directing instead after 2005’s Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Founded by George Lucas, creator of “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones”, and his wife, Mellody Hobson, the building boasts galactic proportions: 300,000 square feet (28,000 square meters) and a reported price tag of $1bn.

Since 1985, the conservation agreements protecting George Lucas's Skywalker Ranch and Big Rock Ranch have preserved 4,834 acres of land. This expansive area includes more than 2,100 acres of lush forest and 19 miles of streams,
