The Boston Celtics are changing things up again. Just days after trading Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers, the team is trying to move Anfernee Simons, who returned in the deal. They are reportedly shopping at Simons as part of a broader effort to cut costs.

Former Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons posted a farewell message to Rip City on his Instagram page on Monday. Simons, traded to the Boston Celtics for guard Jrue Holiday after seven seasons with the Blazers stated the following:

Boston lost six-time All-Star power forward Jayson Tatum to an Achilles tendon tear during the club's eventual six-game second round playoff series loss to the New York Knicks. Given the extreme nature of the injury, the Celtics are likely to be without Tatum for most or all of the 2025-26 season.
