(RNS) — A central figure of the 1980s televangelist scandals and an influential Southern gospel singer, Swaggart spent 70 years in the ministry.

Baton Rouge televangelist and gospel musician Jimmy Swaggart was inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame on Monday, June 30.

Former lead vocalist of the Mississippi Mass Choir, Mosie Burks, passed away recently. We have a remembrance of the gospel singer.
