A Madison County Jail inmate died at a local hospital, according to a release from the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

The jail also says the Madison County Sheriff’s Office is performing an internal investigation into the incident. The Nebraska State Patrol is expected to perform an investigation, which is required by Nebraska State Statute, requiring an independent investigation into any in-custody death.
