A week-long European-led drive against people-trafficking has netted 158 suspected traffickers and ensured the safety of 1,194 victims in 44 countries, Europol said on Friday.
Two brothels in San Jose were raided last week and two suspects were arrested as part of a nationwide crackdown on illicit massage businesses, authorities said Wednesday.
FBI data from local police departments show that only seven percent of human trafficking offenses led to arrests from 2021 to 2023 — 1,344 arrests for 19,225 reported offenses.
That arrest was unrelated to the massage parlor arrests, and no charges were filed against that person. The lack of human trafficking charges is a problem nationwide.
