Forecasters warned swimmers that many U.S. East Coast beaches will remain dangerous this weekend, as Erin became a post-tropical storm and moved from the U.S.

Erin was a post-tropical cyclone in the North Atlantic Ocean Friday afternoon Eastern time, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory. Erin is the fifth named storm to form in the Atlantic in 2025. Follow our coverage here.

A tropical rainstorm moving north of the Leeward Islands has strengthened to become Tropical Storm Fernand and is on a path through the central Atlantic. There are additional areas being closely watched.

Fernand will move north-northeast in the Atlantic and will not impact the U.S. or land. However, Bermuda will be monitoring it as it will pass near the island. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward around 100 miles from the center of the storm.
