DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — European officials struck a new deal with Israel to allow desperately needed food and fuel into Gaza, the European Union’s foreign policy chief said Thursday as Israeli airstrike killed 10 children and five adults waiting for care outside a medical clinic.

An Israeli strike killed 15 people, including women and children, gathered outside a health center in the central Gazan city of Deir Al Balah on Thursday, according to medical staff and officials in the enclave.

At least 17 people, mostly children, were killed in the strike near a Project HOPE clinic in Gaza, officials said. Malnutrition rates are rising in the Strip.

Resident doctors took part in 11 separate strikes during 2023 and 2024. Resident doctors in England have said they will strike for five days from 25 July after voting in favour of fresh action over pay.

Junior doctors in England will go on strike from July 25-30, their trade union said on Wednesday, after the British government said it could not meet their demands for an improved pay deal this year.

UK doctors plan to go on strike for five days at the end of the month after Health Secretary Wes Streeting told them he won’t negotiate with them on their pay demands.
