CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Panthers placed backup running back Jonathon Brooks on injured reserve with a groin injury on Wednesday. According to a person familiar with the situation, Brooks will have surgery Wednesday to repair a core muscle injury that will result in him missing at least six weeks.

Jonathon Brooks will go on IR, so the Panthers could give Austin Ekeler another shot.

With Brooks out for the foreseeable future, the Panthers are looking for help at the RB position.
