Gas prices in the Twin Cities jumped 16.5 cents per gallon in the last week, now averaging $4.43 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.

As of Monday, the average price is $6.22 per gallon.

President Trump described high gas prices as a small cost linked to the U.S. war on Iran, with prices reaching $4.46 per gallon recently, despite public concerns about financial hardship caused by the increases.

Some lawmakers are seeking a ban on diesel exports, which the Trump administration hasn’t endorsed.

The cost of diesel has hit an all-time high, and the trucking industry is feeling it.
