Former Georgia representative and veteran Doug Collins has been tapped by president-elect Donald Trump to lead the Veterans Affairs Department in the upcoming administration.

Collins served in the House from 2013 to 2021 and was a key defender of the president-elect during his first impeachment proceedings.

President-elect Donald Trump said Thursday he's nominating former Republican U.S. Rep. Doug Collins of Georgia to be his secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs as he continues to quickly assemble his next administration.
