It's no secret that the Dodgers have a lot of pitchers on the injured list. Blake Snell, Gavin Stone, Roki Sasaki, Tony Gonsolin, and River Ryan would be a fine rotation on its own, and Brusdar Graterol, Michael Kopech, Evan Phillips, and Blake Treinen would (and previously did) form a quality "A" bullpen.
Dodgers superstars like Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Clayton Kershaw will all enjoy individual All-Star nods. The team, however, has suffered two brutal series sweeps after falling to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday — the first time in franchise history that has happened.
Milwaukee Brewers All-Star pitcher Freddy Peralta dominated the Los Angeles Dodgers during a series-opening 9-1 victory.
Jared Koenig and Abner Uribe negotiated the ninth, working around a leadoff infield single, and now the Brewers will send Isaac Collins, Brice Turang and Caleb Durbin to the plate looking for at least one run to force extras or two to sweep the Dodgers.
The Dodgers' bullpen, at its best, has a few guys already who wield power stuff. But the Dodgers don't care much about equity, so if they can line up a trade for another fireballer, they'll gladly seize the opportunity. ESPN's Jeff Passan sees that opportunity presenting itself.
Announcers: Lane Grindle and Josh Maurer will call the games on the Brewers Radio Network. Yes, the Brewers broadcast is available on Channel 180 on July 7, Channel 182 on July 8 and Channel 177 on July 9. The Dodgers broadcast is available on the Sirius XM app.
