When the Broncos traded Devaughn Vele earlier in the week, it seemed to open the door for an undrafted player such as Courtney Jackson or Joaquin Davis to slip onto the roster. But there is a growing belief that the team will open keep five wide receivers (Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims, Pat Bryant and Trent Sherfield).

After wrapping up preseason with a 28-19 win over the New Orleans Saints on Saturday, the Denver Broncos will now turn their attention toward finalizing a 53-man roster. The Broncos need to make 37 moves between now and Tuesday's deadline for the initial 53-man squad.

Stidham romped through the preseason (30-of-38 passing for 376 yards and four touchdown passes in the first two games), but Nix has moved through the offseason and camp as the unquestioned starter. Payton likes Sam Ehlinger 's athleticism and competitiveness, so the fourth-year veteran is a practice squad possibility.
