Detroit Tigers right-hander Casey Mize has overcome many injuries throughout his career to make his first MLB All-Star Game roster.

DETROIT -- Casey Mize got a call from Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch and president Scott Harris on Thursday night asking about his All-Star break plans.

Detroit – Casey Mize, in his second season back after undergoing surgeries on his elbow and back and missing nearly two years, is expected to be selected to the American League All-Star team as a replacement player. Mize, the first overall pick in the draft in 2018, has posted a 9-2 record with a 2.63 ERA and 1.179 WHIP in 15 starts.
