NEW YORK — Carlos Alcaraz showed up at the U.S. Open on Monday for his first-round match with a new look: a shaved head.

There is nothing Carlos Alcaraz can do to make himself look bad. He has proven capable of making any style work on or off the court. Alcaraz is known for being the more lighthearted and playful player compared to the buttoned-up Jannik Sinner, against whom he is constantly compared.

Having already set social media buzzing with his buzz cut, Alcaraz got down to the business by beating big-serving American Reilly Opelka 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 in the opening round at Flushing Meadows.
