Canada is officially dropping its 25% retaliatory tariffs on a wide list of U.S. consumer goods that meet the terms of the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement, in an attempt to cool things down with the Trump White House.

President Trump said he spoke to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who told him he would remove some of the retaliatory tariffs against the United States and calm trade tensions between the neighboring nations.

Canada will remove many retaliatory import tariffs on U.S. goods and intensify talks with the United States on striking a new trade and security relationship, Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Friday.
