Washington Wizards star Trae Young has publicly addressed his departure from the Atlanta Hawks eight months after he was traded to Washington in January. Young played his first seven-plus seasons with the Hawks and earned four All-Star selections.

Not only did Atlanta Hawks small forward Jalen Johnson make ESPN's top 50 NBA players list again, but he also rose 22 spots. Johnson was ranked No. 44 last season. He's ranked No. 22 for the upcoming season. Johnson is one spot ahead of Cooper Flagg of the Dallas Mavericks and one spot behind Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets.

The Hawks moved for Dorian Finney-Smith after a string of frontcourt injuries left Atlanta thin heading into training camp.

Young, now 28 years old, played for the Hawks from 2018-26 and emerged as the team’s All-NBA centerpiece. As a result, Atlanta’s offense effectively ran entirely through him as Young regularly ranked among the league’s leaders in usage rate every single year.

"There are so many things I won’t say until later on," Young, the former Hawks star, said. "Sometimes it’s better just to let things go."
